Travel + Leisure – 100 World’s Best Hotels - 2011
In 2011, nine of Fairmont’s hotels and resorts secured a place amongst the 100 World’s Best Hotels as determined by readers of Travel + Leisure magazine. The Fairmont Mara Safari Club was named #7 on the magazine’s prestigious listing and Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club ranked #13. Also scoring amongst the top hotels is Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, The Fairmont Vancouver Airport, The Plaza in New York and The Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle. In Mexico, The Fairmont Acapulco Princess secured #15 overall for top resorts in Mexico and The Fairmont Kean Lani and The Fairmont Orchid were named as two of the top resorts in Hawaii.

12 Fairmont properties received this recognition. Fairmont Mayakoba and Fairmont Mara Safari Club made their first ever appearance on the list, while Fairmont Le Montreux Palace was specifically noted for having one of the best locations in Europe. In Canada, The Fairmont Waterfront and The Fairmont Vancouver Airport were voted onto the list again alongside The Fairmont Chateau Whistler; The Fairmont Empress as well as The Fairmont Banff Springs and The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. In the U.S., The Fairmont Kea Lani, The Fairmont Orchid and The Fairmont Olympic Hotel were recognized. Five additional properties were included in the Gold List Reserve including The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club and Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten.

Top US Resorts on the Mainland included The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess and in Hawaii, The Fairmont Kea Lani and The Fairmont Orchid took honours. For US Hotels, The Plaza, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, The Fairmont Olympic Hotel, Seattle, Fairmont Miramar Hotels & Bungalows in Santa Monica and The Fairmont San Francisco made the list. In Canada, top hotels included Fairmont Pacific Rim and The Fairmont Waterfront in Vancouver, The Fairmont Vancouver Airport, The Fairmont Empress in Victoria, Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Ottawa, The Fairmont Hotel MacDonald, Edmonton and The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Awarded to “outstanding establishments in distinctive settings, with exceptional service that creates a luxury experience”,
The Plaza, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, The Fairmont Olympic Hotel, Seattle and Fairmont Singapore all received a Four Star ranking, along with the Banffshire Club restaurant located in The Fairmont Banff Springs and the Georgian Room at The Fairmont Olympic Hotel who were awarded with Four Stars in the restaurant category. Willow Stream Spas at The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, and The Fairmont Banff Springs also received Four Star designations during the awards ceremony.

The world’s leading travel review forum, has recognized nine Fairmont hotels for 2011. Among those honoured are Fairmont Beijing, which was ranked as the number one hotel from the Top 25 Hotels in China and placed among the Top 25 Hotels in Asia. In Canada, Fairmont Vancouver Pacific Rim, The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, The Fairmont Empress, The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, The Fairmont Banff Springs, The Fairmont Royal York and Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac made the Top 25 Luxury Hotels in Canada honour role, with Fairmont Singapore being identified as one of the Top 25 Hotels in Singapore.
International Hotel Awards - 2011
In association with Bloomberg Television, the International Hotel Awards identify and reward excellence throughout the global hospitality industry. Receiving top honours for Best New Hotel Construction and Design in China and Best New Hotel Construction and Design in Asia Pacific is Fairmont Beijing, and for Best Convention Hotel in Singapore, was Fairmont Singapore. Fairmont Monte Carlo received 3 recognitions as “Best European Hotel”, “Best hotel in Monaco” and “Highly Commanded Spa”.

The Best Hotels awards identify the top properties across the country using an unbiased methodology. Evaluated were the strength of accolades and ratings that elite hotels received from major travel publications as well as online guest reviews. Makkah Clock Royal Tower, A Fairmont Hotel took home two honours at the recent awards ceremony including Worlds Leading Landmark Hotel and Middle East’s Leading New Hotel. Also leading the pack was The Fairmont Winnipeg, named Canada’s Leading Hotel.

Fairmont Heritage Place, Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco was awarded the 2011 Best Performing Luxury Hotel recognition by leading global hospitality industry research company, Smith Travel Research. Luxury Brands Status Index (LBSI) - 2011
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts was named a top luxury hotel brand by the Luxury Brands Status Index (LBSI). The New York City-based Luxury Institute conducts the survey, which queried high net-worth consumers from China about their impressions of brands in categories such as fashion and hotels. Survey respondents rated brands on quality, exclusivity, social status and overall ownership experience in addition to price worthiness, willingness to recommend the brand and likelihood of purchase. In China, Fairmont was awarded the top honor in the hotels category.
